- Win95 is just reporting whatever the modem is saying in its
- 'CONNECT' message. Most modems can be configured to report either
- the DCE or the DTE speed. If you don't like the default you are
- getting, then at the extra init commands needed to switch over
- in the 'extra commands' dialog (and no - I can't remember where
- this is - just right click and look at the properties of
- everything in sight!).
-
- I agree with you that the DCE (modem-modem speed) is preferred.
- I know full well that my DTE speed is fixed at 115200 and don't
- need it to be reported. Despite this, the usual complaint
- in the newsgroups is "I used to be able to connect at 115200,
- whereas now I can only get 28800" - so for some modems Win95
- must default to reporting the DCE speed anyway.
-
- If you enable the modem log file, and then look in ModemLog.txt,
- you'll see what commands Win95 is using. If it doesn't perform
- a 'reset to factory', then you might be able to just program
- the settings you want into your power up settings.
